The health of teeth in Romanians leaves much to be desired

The president of the College of Dentists in Bucharest, Alexandru Brezoescu, argues that the oral hygiene of the Romanians and, implicitly, the health of their teeth leaves much to be desired. In addition, the small number of dentists and the chronic underfunding of this part of health prevents the provision of specialized medical services for each individual insured.
"The situation is better in the rural area than in the urban one. But we face big problems because of the underfunding, as we are only allocated 0.9% of the budget of the House of Social Health Insurance. It is impossible to ensure a good health of the Romanian teeth. with this money. In addition, the number of dentists is half necessary, "said Brezoescu.
In Romania, there are approximately 11,500 dentists at national level, of which 3,800 practice in Bucharest only.
Among the most common dental conditions, according to the President of the National Union of Dental Associations, Teodor Traistaru, are caries, parental disorders and, lately, cancer.
According to specialists, cancer affects people between the ages of 5 and 70, and the incidence peak is between 50 and 60 years. In the capital, its incidence officially registered is 4% of the total number of persons who present at least once a year at a dental consultation or every six months.
