Constipation

Question:

- My child is 2 months and 8 days old. I feed him artificially with NANE powdered milk. He has problems with constipation. What do you advise me to give her? It's too early to give her a fruit juice, and if not, what juice do you recommend? I understand that glycerin suppositories are addictive, and the method I use (I help with the thermometer) is not exactly good.

Answer:

You can change the formula used or you can try to give it more diluted milk. Often simple hydration better solves the problem of constipation.

In this particular case you can start diversification; the main reason why usually diversification is recommended at a slightly older age is precisely the risk of diarrhea if it starts earlier than 3 months.
This is not the case with your child. The first recommended juices are carrot juice and apple juice (introduced in this order in turn). Glycerin does not addictive, but it does not solve the problem: it is only a symptomatic treatment, with momentary results.
