The fight against breast cancer continues!

On October 1, the Central University Library will be lit in pink, which brings to the attention of the Romanian public a problem with major implications in women's lives - breast cancer.
Five years ago, the Renaissance Foundation launched the Early Breast Cancer Prevention and Detection Program, prompted by a desire to convey to women the belief that, when detected and treated in time, this disease can be overcome.
In order to complete the population information services, the Pink Line was inaugurated, the first free telephone call service in Romania where interested persons can obtain information regarding breast cancer. The number 08008.300.300 it is appealed to by all categories of citizens, whether women, men or family members of those diagnosed.


October is a high point in the media because it internationally signifies the month dedicated to the fight against breast cancer. On October 1, the pink lighting of representative buildings in Bucharest and other cities of the country takes place, joining us with the World Lighting Initiative.
In Bucharest the event was hosted, in 2001 by the Romanian Athenaeum in 2002 by the George Enescu Museum, in 2003 by the National Theater and in 2004 by the C.E.C. This year, next to Bucharest, the Illumination event was extended to five cities in the country: Bacau, Brasov, Constanta, Iasi and Tg. Mures.
